Congratulations! Zambia Lusaka Airport Power Supply Project Completes Smoothly

On November 25, 2020, Shandong Taikai Power Engineering Co., Ltd. successfully passed the completion acceptance of Zambia Capital International Airport Power Supply Project and obtained the completion certificate.

(Acceptance Site)

This is a key project to provide stable power supply for the normal operation of Zambia Capital International Airport after its upgrading and expansion. The main construction items include expansion of a 132 / 88 / 11kV substation, construction of a 132 / 11kv substation, an 11 / 0.4kV switchyard, 8.2km overhead transmission lines and 12.3km buried cables.

At about 8:00 a.m. on October 22, 2020 in Zambia local time, engineers of both parties spared no effort to overcome difficulties. According to the established and detailed inspection and operation scheme, they carried out self-inspection on each energizing section, troubleshooted all the equipment defects, verified the protection setting values, and carefully inspected and operated in accordance with the operation procedures and safety measures plan. At 16:10 in 2020, after completion of two no-load impulse closing tests for overhead lines and substations, all electrical equipment operated normally, and the parameters such as voltage and current were also normal. Therefore, the official energizing of Zambia Lusaka Airport Project succeeded. Energizing sections include 132kV 8.2km overhead line, Chongwe and Avondale line bay of KKIA substation, busbar bay, No.2 transformer bay, 20MVA 33 / 11kv mobile transformer, 11kV switch cabinet, auxiliary transformer and 400V power supply system.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the project department, under the guidance of our company, had proactively overcome many adverse factors, such as blocked equipment delivery, difficulties in dispatching technical personnel and local epidemic prevention and control, and achieved smooth completion and handover within the contract period.
